I bought a car from Elite Motors 2 weeks ago. I work for a Chevy dealer, so I am in the “business” my self. Yet, my used car manager could not come even close to the price that Elite Motors gave me. I have a Chevy dealer, so I am in the “business” my self. Yet, my used car manager could not come even close to the price that Elite Motors gave me. I have simply have stumbled up on previous review (my dealership is on here as well) and merely would like to comment on it, since I can relate to the situation. Folks, when you are buying a USED car, expect getting one, it might miss items like manual, keys etc. If the previous owner has them I always give them to my clients if not then it is per clients request I would be more then happy to order (at customers disbursement),that is in order to keep costs down. Reality check folks: Dealer can replace all items new , no problem, but then who would buy that car at such high cost, it is PRE-driven car after all. People expect to buy the car $3,000 below retail, have all the keys and manual and the car to be PERFECT condition, it happens but don’t expect all the time unless you buy a NEW car for $$$$$ more. And yes my car did not come with all keys either, its ok for me atleast, I think I can spare $300 of thousands I saved. More
I recently purchased a pre-owned vehicle from Elite Motors and found my experience to be extremely unprofessional. I strongly recommend that you look elsewhere for a pre-owned car. My suggestion is t Motors and found my experience to be extremely unprofessional. I strongly recommend that you look elsewhere for a pre-owned car. My suggestion is to work directly with certified pre-owned manufacturers who stand behind their certification and warranties. Consider yourself warned - dealing with Elite Motors is the same as dealing with a private seller. Here's why - AFTER I had signed all financial paperwork, I was informed by their finance guy that they only had one key to a vehicle that I had just paid 45 thousand dollars for. To purchase an extra key costs $350, but Elite Motors was adament in their position that they would not cover this cost! Their view is that they only recieved one key so that is all they have to give out!! One would think that a car company looking to build customer loyalty and satisfaction would be willing to spend $350, especially after a customer just spend fair market value for one of their used vehicles. What made the situation worse was the unethical way that they proposed that I go about getting an additional key. They said that since the car was only a few years old I should sign up for the manufacturer's annual key coverage insurance. Once I was enrolled, they suggested that I report that I had lost a key in order to get an additional one! It is amazing to me that a car dealership would suggest such a scam. A better and easier solution was the one that proposed - try and reach out to the person who had traded in the car that I was now purchasing to see if they had any of the extra keys laying around (As a new luxury car, the original owner would have received 3 keys). To my knowledge, this was not done, and I never received a follow-up call or e-mail stating that they had tried to contact the previous owner. I had specifically requested that they follow-up with me on this point. Another minor detail that made my experience unpleasant was the poor attention to detail upon picking up the car. As an example, upon entering the car, I noticed old food (potato chips) that was present on the floor between the driver seat and middle console. Bottom line is this dealership does not take any steps to earn your trust and is completely unprofessional from start to finish. After this experience it comes as no surprise to me why used car dealerships have the bad reputation that they do. The service, and manner in which Elite Motors conducts business, strongly suggests that they are completely deserviing of this bad reputation. More
Bought a 2005 VW Touareg from this dealer. Flew in from Cincinnati to pick it up. Asked dealer if the auto had all NAV CD's they said yes. It didn't. When I called dealer back to ask if they had them they Cincinnati to pick it up. Asked dealer if the auto had all NAV CD's they said yes. It didn't. When I called dealer back to ask if they had them they said no... But I could buy them off eBay. I bought them through the vw dealer. When signing papers for the car they were relentless about buying an aftermarket warranty. I almost walked out! If I hadn't flown there I would have. I have left with a bad taste in my mouth and will never purchase from them again. And I agree with all of the customer service claims. It sucks! More

Ok, bottom line is that Elite has the best prices anywhere. If you like haggling, do not come here. If you want a straight up best deal anywhere with a no haggle price, this is the place for you. I anywhere. If you like haggling, do not come here. If you want a straight up best deal anywhere with a no haggle price, this is the place for you. I knew what i wanted and searched all over the US for the best price. They had it here 25 miles away from my house. If you try to haggle, you most likely wont get your way. I didnt, but I knew it was already the lowest price anywhere. And, yes they have admin fees on top of prices. Every dealer has! Whether in IL or not. It's part of buying a car. I am very happy with my purchase. They are however understaffed as far as sales and sometimes it is hard to get ahold of a salesperson, but if you have ever been inside, you'd understand why. The phone rings non-stop. I spent an hour inside the showroom and it was a madhouse. The place is really clean though and their bathrooms are amazing! Oh and they are only open until 7pm, which was a huge problem for me. I am used to spending hours at dealer buying a car, and have stayed much after 9pm to complete a sale. I was in and out in about an hour. They told me that most of their sales come from customers out of state and they dont need to be open late. Maybe if they stayed open a little longer, they would have more local customers??? Go figure Overall, its a great place and you will get the best deal. Dont expect to get the red carpet treatment and follow up phone calls. More
Horrible experience. I spent the first part of this Horrible experience. I spent the first part of this week negotiating a price on a vehicle. Every time I got a price, the guy would be like "well, I Horrible experience. I spent the first part of this week negotiating a price on a vehicle. Every time I got a price, the guy would be like "well, I got to talk to my manger" or "you have to talk to this other salesmen". Every time I talked to that other person, the price would go up another $100. The other guy would claim I agreed to all sorts of fees ask for more money. After putting up with this for days, I finally got someone to commit to a final price. The agreement was the price + tax, title, and registration. No fees. Just send in the deposit, he told me, and he'd send over the contract. I could pick up the vehicle that weekend. Well, I gave them my deposit and the the contract came in. Bottom line was far more then I was expecting. It broke down to the agreed upon price plus tax, and $154.38 in Documentary fees. xxx? I called the guy, assuming documentary fees include things like title and registration. Nope, that's separate he told me. He said I agreed to the price plus tax, title, and DOCUMENTARY fees. After telling him I didn't want to pay any fees for a few minutes, and pointing out documentary fee sounds like a fee, he sent me over to the finance guy who told me its state law and there's nothing he can do about the fee. The kicker? The contract says: "Documentary fee is not an official fee. A documentary fee is not required for handling documents and preforming services related to the closing of a sale. This notice is required by law." What they left out is what the rest of the law actually says, "DOCUMENTARY FEE. A DOCUMENTARY FEE IS NOT AN OFFICIAL FEE.A DOCUMENTARY FEE IS NOT REQUIRED BY LAW, BUT MAY BE CHARGED TO BUYERS FOR HANDLING DOCUMENTS AND PERFORMING SERVICES RELATED TO CLOSING OF A SALE. THE BASE DOCUMENTARY FEE BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2008, WAS $150. THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT THAT MAY BE CHARGED FOR A DOCUMENTARY FEE IS THE BASE DOCUMENTARY FEE OF $150 WHICH SHALL BE SUBJECT TO AN ANNUAL RATE ADJUSTMENT EQUAL TO THE PERCENTAGE OF CHANGE IN THE BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS CONSUMER PRICE INDEX. THIS NOTICE IS REQUIRED BY LAW." Funny how they left out something which says its required by law, but I'm sure their lawyers know what they're doing. Anyway, the guy just straight out made something up to get another $154 after the price was set and the deposit collected. He even said that it would be easier for him to lose the sale rather then waive the fee. Feels great to be treated so poorly. More
Elite Motors is a case study in poor customer service. I have previously owned 2 BMW 7-series and was looking to purchase a later model 7-series. I found one on Ebay (through Elite Motors) that I liked. D have previously owned 2 BMW 7-series and was looking to purchase a later model 7-series. I found one on Ebay (through Elite Motors) that I liked. Due to some server problems Ebay was having I made a phone call to Elite Motors, asked some questions regarding the car I was interested in and placed a deposit. From that point on it was an exercise in frustration regarding communication and customer service. I made several calls to Marty (my salesmen) to make arrangements to travel to the dealership to get the car (about 1.5 hours away). He didn't return my calls and when I finally did track him down he agreed that the car would be ready for pick-up that Saturday. That Saturday I traveled to the dealership to pick up my car only to find it wasn't ready. They apparently needed to replace the headliner. I sat in the dealership for almost 2 hours that day waiting to see the car and talk with the finance manager (no one even offered a cup of coffee!). The finance manager was more helpful and at least was efficient in getting the paperwork together and processed. I was sent on my way and told the car would be delivered at a later date. I still could not get a return call from salesman in the time following my visit for a status update. After receiving the car I found out from my local mechanic that it needed a oil tank gasket replaced, new water pump, had 2 bent rims, and needed the rear brakes replaced! You gotta be kidding me!!! Shame on me for not having this car thoroughly inspected before purchasing! They will not return my calls or e-mails. I will NEVER do business with Elite Motors again. Buyer beware!!! More
My wife (she would be the primary driver) and I spent a lot of time shoppong for an SUV/crossover and did a lot of test driving (at new car dealers of new and pre-driven vehicles), internet shopping, prici lot of time shoppong for an SUV/crossover and did a lot of test driving (at new car dealers of new and pre-driven vehicles), internet shopping, pricing and research. We looked at used and new and finally decided to get a higher end vehicle, as my bride, as much as she tried just could not go with something "practical" like a Honda CRV, Hyundai Santa Fe or Chevy Equinox...so our budget dictated a pre-driven option . After driving used Lincoln MKX, Acura MDX. Mercedes ML350, and a few others, all great vehicles, we finally landed on what we wanted, a 2-4 yere old Prosche Cayenne S (if you are at all a driving enthusiast, DONT test drive one, or you'll wind up like we did, buying it), after test driving 5 or 6 at a few different dealers, we got a good sense of the options/features we wanted. We were able to locate one that met our specs at Elite. It was aggressively priced relative to comparable offerings at Porsche dealers, and we were able to knock a few thousand off their initial asking price. The car was still under factory warranty, and close to its 40K mile mainteneance, so we did factor that into our pricing discussions. For those of you who own a German car (we also have a BMW, and have owned an MB in the past) you know that sheduled maintenance work can be very pricey, but if you stick to it, the vehicles are very reliable. So our plan was to take the car in right after we bought it, which we did, and the car checked out well, and also had some warranty work done. We are veryy happy with it. In spite of the mediocre mileage, it is way too much fun to drive as it handles like a sports car, even though it is an SUV, and the AWD has been great in the recent snowtorm we had here norhtern Illinois. I guess time will tell how well it will hold up. If you want a high end used vehicle, and know what features you are looking for, have a good feel for where your desired vehicle should be priced, and you are willing to take a bit of a risk as with any used vehicle, Elite is the place for you. Their asking prices are probably 10% lower than what we saw at other dealers, and their selection is great, especially if you are looking for a high end Mercedes, or BMW which they had a bunch of. If you are serious, they will negotiate aggressively. But I dont think the experience is what you might expect at a new car dealership, so don't expect that. They do NOT sell new cars or certified pre-owned cars, so remember, the purchase is all at your risk. Know what you want..push the vehicle during the test drive to see if you detect any issues...and make sure you try out all the electronics. Again, in spite of the high end offerings and pretty attentive and very knowledgeable salespeople, this is a "used car" dealer, so remember that if you decide to go there.... We recommend, as we did, that you scope out their inventory on the internet, what you want to test drive, call them in advance to have your ride(s) ready when you get there. If you dont know exactly what you want and are "shopping", stick to new car dealers, as we did for that part of your buying process. But Elite is worth checking out if they have something in stock that meets your requirements, as their pricing is likely to be very good. More
I got to tell you buying a car is not a easy and the most pleasant task. When I started to look for a new CL55 I found advertisement for Elite Motors. The price was unbelievably low. You know what they say “ pleasant task. When I started to look for a new CL55 I found advertisement for Elite Motors. The price was unbelievably low. You know what they say “If it sounds s to good to be true….” Well I live not too far from Illinois/Wisconsin border (4 hours). When I came in I was surprised how many cars they had on the lot and the establishment was very “groomed”. I did not expect much and came in with my “shield” up. After talking to Alex he made me feel very comfortable, and I quote him “You are like a guest in my house”. While, I was waiting for the salesman to pull my car up for a test drive, I wanted to get some coffee from the machine and it was not working. Sales Manager, Mark, was passing by and saw that, he walked over and offered me to buy Starbucks coffee and this even before I bought the car! He was a real nice gentleman to talk to. I own my own small business and I know it all starts from the top .I would like to complement him on a great job he did with his sales staff. The car looked great, the tires were not new but well over 50% and it had 2 little hair pin size micro chips on the hood (that they touched up and it looked great), oh well it is a 6 year old used car and I bought $3,000 les then from a local dealer. What can I tell you I wish all of my previous experience were as good as this one. Next time I am in the area I will take Alex’s offer on complementary hand car wash that they offer to their clients. As I am expecting, I had one month to sell my two-door and get a new car. I came in to look at cars and found a Murano that I loved. One of the owners, Alex, took time out to advise me on how to sell my c and get a new car. I came in to look at cars and found a Murano that I loved. One of the owners, Alex, took time out to advise me on how to sell my car so I would not lose money and gave me his contact information if I needed any help. The sales manager, Mark, helped me figue out how much I would need to put down to stay under my monthly payment max. Karl worked diligently on the Murano and had it ready for me two days after I sold my car. When I came to pick up my car it was ready and looked great. Mark and Karl both went over all the options, features and made sure I had no questions or problems with the financing. The whole process was fast, easy and very pleasant. I feel very greatful for all the people at Elite who helped make this purchase so stress-free for me. Love my new car!!! More
