Luther Family Ford responded

The Ford Warranty guide requires us to remove all lamps and inspect for hidden damage to the back side of the component prior to authorizing warranty repairs. Once your lamps were removed there was no evidence of hidden component damage so we ordered all components and replaced them under warranty. Hidden component damage can occur due to things out of our guests control such as impact when the vehicle is unattended (parking lot) or can be due to aftermarket modifications such as LED bulb installation or removal and over torque when reinstalled during body work or even some accessory installation. Inspection is standard practice for all metal, trim, and glass warranty repairs. All pictures taken are furnished to the manufacturer to support the repair. I apologize if you felt that what you experienced was anything short of the normal course of action when obtaining authorization for lighting repairs, perhaps we should have explained the process a bit better.
