We strongly disagree with the allegations in this review. Coastal does not discriminate on any level. Our employees and customer base are a reflection of our core values of inclusion. We apologize for the wait in speaking with a manager, however, it was far less than stated. We make every effort to respect our customers’ privacy by discussing personal information discreetly. The customer refused to speak to our manager in his office, which is why we requested to speak outside the dealership, away from the crowded common areas. The decision to decline to service the vehicle was based solely on the following factors: the vehicle had never been in for service prior to this visit, the vehicle was 10 years old, the mileage was over 147K, and the check engine light was on. Our policy is to decline servicing vehicles at this age and mileage for the first time. Again, we apologize for the wait in speaking to a manager but stand by our policies and professionalism.

*First and foremost, as a proud owner of 6 Audis and VW cars, combined, I have never before encountered such unscrupulous level of unprofessionalism and extremely obvious discrimination as at Coastal VW, Hanover, MA. *Secondly, in response to Ryan G.’s FALSE statements in response to this review, please note the following clarifications and corrections: 1) Vehicle brought at Coastal VW was LESS than 9 years old. Most certainly NOT over 10 years old. 2) Vehicle had LESS than 100K miles. Way LESS than 147K mentioned by Ryan. 3) Coastal VW confirmed appointment over 1 week ago with all of these specifications. If there was an issue, they had plenty of time to update customer accordingly. They didn’t because there was no need since vehicle was within guidelines. Perhaps John and Ryan cannot compute simple math. Nevertheless, I was there to remind them of the correct information and they didn’t listen or didn’t want to listen. 2024-2015 = 9 NOT over 10. Car was also produced in December so it’s actually less than 9 years old. Simple math. 4) Ryan wanted to speak OUTSIDE in EXTREME RAIN. How unprofessional. To insist on this for over an hour is absurd and unacceptable on many levels. It’s evident that the real reason for this is embedded in discrimination and fear of having lies exposed to other customers. 5) There were only 3 customers occupying 3 out of 10 seats for service. Therefore, there was less than 30% occupancy for service because 2 of the customers were there for only 1 vehicle. Ryan makes it sound as if the service department was bursting at the seams with customers. Largely UNTRUE because there were only 2 other vehicles prior to mine with 3 customers total. 6) It appears that Ryan and/or John confused me with someone else and refused to listen to any information provided. I told John over 6 times that the vehicle was a 2015, NOT diesel. He kept looking into the abyss in a confused manner. I told him that I had made an appointment and all pertaining vehicle information was listed there as well. John refused to look up the appointment as well and insisted on incorrect information. Extremely unprofessional and unusual behavior. 7) The most humorous part is that they kept calling to ask why I “didn’t show up for appointment.” Unbelievable. 8) Extremely disorganized and chaotic environment with extremely poor management. 9) First and LAST time visiting any Coastal dealership because being treated with hostility and disrespect solely due to gender, ethnicity, race, and age is unacceptable and extremely uncomfortable to say the least. Ryan says “customer didn’t wait” as if waiting for an hour was NOT enough. Unbelievable, wow. Disappointed to see such unpleasant unprofessionalism by a dealership.

Third and most importantly, no one asked Coastal VW not to stand with their policies. However, they were corrected multiple times because they had the wrong information about both the vehicle and owner, and apparently continue to hav eye wrong information. Nevertheless, ultimately Coastal VW LOSES and customer wins be my learning ahead of time that this dealership’s service department is incompetent to handle simple maintenance services for performance vehicles. In conclusion, GO ANYWHERE ELSE to save yourselves unnecessary aggravation, wasted time, wasted money, and potentially a ruined vehicle because they’re not equipped to handle services for performance cars. That’s all fine and well, however show customers some common decency and tell them in advance of your limited abilities so they don’t waste their valuable time scheduling and waiting to have maintenance service done by an inexperienced dealership. And apparently they can’t do simple math which can be detrimental when it comes to servicing very specific vehicle requirements. Imagine the catastrophic results from simple miscalculations. No thanks. And the disorganized and chaotic environment was very telling of their lack of leadership and poor management. It is saddening to witness such poor communication, dissatisfactory management, great disorder/chaos, and mistreatment of customers because there are customers out there who entrust them with their vehicles and don’t have the ability to go anywhere else. For those customers, my heart goes out to them and I recommend that you ask someone to help you find another dealership that has adequate knowledge, skills, competence to service your vehicles. But those with performance vehicles, this dealership is a HUGE NO.
